Everyone in the Sheraton Wall Centre ballroom was expecting Calgary's Jann Arden to take the stage at a gala fundraiser for Honour House.

It's a Lower Mainland charity that provides a home away from home in New West to the families of soldiers and emergency responders needing medical treatment.

There was noticeable disappointment in the room when the host, Global BC news anchor Chris Gailus, informed the audience that Arden couldn't make it through no fault of her own. But then, the Global TV anchor said that they found a replacement: a guy who was on the SkyTrain.

Lo and behold, it was Michael Bublé, the Burnaby-raised crooner who has sold over 35 million records.
