Hello Bungalow B Members!

The summer flew by fast and we had a great tour of the U.S., lots of multiple dates in a host of big cities. The “Call Me Irresponsible” tour is bigger and better than before. It’s a huge new set – the stage itself reflects the dynamic, new light show, and it’s a cool platform for the expanded band. We’ve got three new band members, Dino Meneghin playing guitar, Robert Castillo doing guitar, percussion, and keyboards, and Jacob Rodriguez on baritone sax. Great guys who are wonderful to have around. (And when we got to Oakland we discovered that Dino’s mom bakes some delectable goodies, so that’s a plus in his column!)

We started our tour in Reno and worked our way around the sizzling southwest. Las Vegas clocked in at around 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Even at nighttime walking outside felt like walking into an oven. On to Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Denver and then two nights at the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis where the north offered a welcome break from the extreme heat.

During one of our three nights at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago, we were treated to a guest appearance by Chris Isaak when he and Michael sang “Kansas City.”

Two sweltering outdoor shows at the Mann Theater in Philadelphia. Within an instant of hitting the stage Michael and the band were sopping wet!

On stage (and back indoors) in Pittsburgh Michael celebrated the birthdays of his friend and security chief, Steve, and production manager Dean.

The magical Fox Theater in Atlanta is decorated as an Arabian courtyard with a sky full of flickering stars, drifting clouds and a spectacular striped canopy overhanging the balcony. Built in the 1920’s, the theater is one of only a few remaining, elaborately decorated Fox theaters in the country -- it’s really an experience to see a show there so be sure to go if you ever have the chance.

After the Atlanta show Michael, the full band, and some crew departed directly for the airport where we boarded a 30-seat private plane. Michael was scheduled to perform at an event in Minneapolis at noon the next day so the only way to make it was to travel during the night. We landed in the Twin Cities at 4:00 am, got a few hours shuteye, and made the show in time!

After a four day hiatus we resumed with a three show run at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. The Greek is an outdoor theater in LA’s Griffith Park, and so performing among the trees and under the stars was a warm summery delight (and it wasn’t nearly as hot as it was in Philly). Celeb reporter Perez Hilton came by in the afternoon to play some road hockey and interview Michael for his show. That was a fun afternoon – well, except at the end when Michael’s friend Carsten slammed a shot at Michael that left him, uh, singing soprano…

Then on the last night in LA, many of you saw or heard about the infamous split pants and YELLOW underwear! After Michael’s runaround in the theater he split his pants jumping back onto stage. Hey, every now and then a guy's gotta wear what he’s gotta wear, you know?

We landed in Seattle for three days where the big Bublé clan had a grand time hangin’ with Michael and celebrating grandmother Yolanda’s birthday. Michael jumped down into the crowd to personally sing Happy Birthday and deliver a cupcake to her. The whole crowd got into it!

Since Seattle was the end of the line for us for a while we got treated to the expected yet unexpected end-of-tour practical joke. This time it was Canadian singing legend and opening act Jann Arden. Jann snuck herself on stage and flung herself -- full on -- onto Michael – she would not let go! It was pretty funny and if you know Jann or have seen her perform live you know she’s hilarious! Seeing her on stage throwing herself at him was a sight to see. She held tight, and Michael and Steve finally carried her off stage.

One of the other treats the Seattle audience got to enjoy was a special tour-end duet between Michael and Jann. Jann had thought they were going to sing “You Don’t Know Me” earlier in the show and when it didn’t happen she changed out of her stage outfit into some comfier clothes. Then Michael called for her to come onto the stage – but by that time she was in a van about leave. We were able to call her and get her back, but she came on wearing her sweatshirt and orange flip flops. She was mortified. But the song was incredible and at the end the audience and Michael expressed his extreme gratitude.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the U.S. shows!
See you in Rotterdam!
